PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a volume reducing treatment apparatus of a foamed resin waste material capable of suitably performing volume reducing treatment without scattering an exhaust gas generated at the time of thermal melting to the periphery to the utmost. PSOLUTION: A crusher 2 for crushing the foamed resin waste material and a volume reducing machine 3 for performing volume reducing treatment are provided side by side. The charging hopper 17 of the volume reducing machine 3 and the discharge port 7 of the crusher 2 are connected by a tubular chute 16 and the foamed resin waste material crushed by the crushing blades 12 provided to the crusher 2 is extruded to the charging hopper 17 of the volume reducing machine 3 while allowed to fill the chute 16. By this constitution, the malodor generated in the volume reducing machine 3 at the time of thermal welding is prevented from leaking to the outside from the charging hopper 5 of the crusher 2 through the chute 16 to the utmost to enable suitable volume reducing treatment.
