PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily and inexpensively producing water-soluble polyalkylene glycol (meth)acrylic ester of high purity with reduced impurity content through transesterification reaction by solving the problems on the conventional transesterification reaction in which a basic catalyst, for example, an alkali metal hydroxide, an alkaline earth metal hydroxide, an alkali metal alkoxide is used as a catalyst but these processes are accompanied by a large amount of by-products and less prone to attain high reactivity.;SOLUTION: In this method for producing water-soluble polyalkylene glycol (meth)acrylic ester, a glycol compound and a (meth)acrylic ester are allowed to react with each other by using titanium alkoxide and/or zirconium alkoxide as a transesterification, then the reaction mixture is treated with water to separate the insoluble matter.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
