PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser engravable flexographic printing element and a method for forming a printing plate from the element.;SOLUTION: The flexographic printing plate is formed with the laser engravable flexographic printing element including at least one laser engravable reinforced elastomer layer of an elastomer composition containing an elastomer binder, at least one monomer, a photoinitiator system whose UV absorbance lowers in accordance with the progress of polymerization and at least one additive which absorbs IR of 9-12 μm on the base. In the forming method, the whole printing element is photo-cured by exposure to UV and the photo-cured element is exposed to IR of 9-12 μm to engrave the elastomer layer.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
