PROCESS FOR OBTAINING CITRIC BIOFLAVONOIDS, ESPECIALLY HESPERIDINE, FROM CITRIC PELETIZED PULP AND WASTE FROM CITRIC FRUITS. The present invention relates to a novel method for obtaining and purifying hesperidin and citrus bioflavonoids from pelletized citrus pulp - PCP and citrus fruit residues, notably orange peels originating from juice processing, using an innovative process of extraction, treatment and purification of these compounds. This invention was carried out on the basis of current methods used for the extraction of citrus bioflavonoids and the use of abundant raw material available in the country. Brazil is currently the largest orange producer and exporter of concentrated orange juice in the world. Brazil and the United States produce 90% of concentrated juice worldwide. Other countries where orange production is highlighted are: China, Spain, Mexico, India, Italy, Greece and Turkey. Hesperidin is a glycosidic flavonoid comprised of flavone hesperitin (aglycone) and a disaccharide called rutinosis. Hesperidin is the predominant flavonoid in lemons and oranges. The rind and membranous parts of these fruits have the highest concentrations of bioflavonoids. Hesperidin, in combination with a glycoside flavonide called diosmine, is used in Europe for the treatment of venous insufficiency and hemorrhoids.
