A method for predicting the "heavy" airways at the prehospital step comprises the assessment of the extent of decreasing thyromental distance and decreasing opening of the mouth. In addition, the obstruction of the upper airways, the rigidity syndrome, and the optimal position of the critical patient are taken into account. Two or more factors are predictive as to the "heavy" airways.
