The method involves moving objects (2) in consequence of a radiation sensor with which a luminescence radiation is evaluated and checking with respect to its exciting characteristics. Individual lines (9) of a surface sensor (4) e.g. complementary metal oxide semiconductor-surface sensor are selected separately from each other in a rapid sequence. A value or measuring curve e.g. exciting curve, of intensity values of the excited luminescence radiation of a luminescence color sample (6) is produced from signal values of a pixel or the lines exposed in predetermined intervals. An independent claim is included for a device for testing an object carrying a luminescence color sample.
