Triphendioxazine pigment of formula (I) (see formula) wherein X represents hydrogen or chlorine, and R 1 represents phenyl which is substituted by 1 to 5 radicals from the group C1-C4alkyl, halogen, C1-C4 alkoxy, acetylamino, aminocarbonyl, methylaminocarbonyl and C1-C4; or represents phenyl which is fused in the 2,3-position or 3,4 with a bivalent radical of the formula -NH- (CO) m-NR 2 -, -CR 2 = CH-CO-NH-, -CR 2 = N-CO-NH-, -CO-NH-CO-NR 2 -, -CO- (NH) m -CO- or -O- (CO) m -NH- to form a five- or six-membered wherein R 2 hydrogen, methyl, ethyl or phenyl and m 1 or 2.
