An LED backlight (2) to be mounted on an image display device is provided with identical comb-like LED substrates (21a, 21b). On each of the LED substrates (21a, 21b), a plurality of LEDs (25) are nonlinearly arranged. The LED substrate (21a) is rotated to be the LED substrate (21b), and a flat surface without a gap is formed with the LED substrates (21a, 21b). Thus, an LED light source which is easily manufactured while having improved LED substrate connection reliability, a planar light source device and an image display device having such LED light source are provided.
