A detecting and processing method and a device of node fault within a peer-to-peer network, thereof, the detecting method of node fault within the peer-to-peer network includes that: receiving a diagnosis request message(101); detecting whether the node within a peer-to-peer network is fault according to the predetermined fault detecting method(102); sending a diagnosis response message as responding the diagnosis request message to the source node generating the diagnosis request message or to the network node designated in the diagnosis request message, and the diagnosis response message including the detecting result of the detecting; if detecting the node fault within the peer-to-peer network, the detecting result including the information of the fault node within the peer-to-peer network(103). The fault of the nodes on transfer path within the peer-to-peer network can be detected by employing the technical solution of the invention embodiments.
