A method for transmitting BFD message is disclosed. The method includes: acquiring the information of the midway nodes which are passed by the BFD message, the midway nodes information only corresponds to the passing-by link or the session of the link; setting the acquired midway nodes information into the BFD message; transmitting the BFD message to the target side through the link corresponding to the midway nodes information. A method for searching a session identifier of the locol side, a method and device for detecting link failure are also disclosed.
