Disclosed are compounds of formula (I): wherein R1 and R4 are defined herein, which are useful as inhibitors of the kinase activity of the IkappaB kinase (IKK) complex. The compounds are therefore useful in the treatment of IKK mediated diseases including autoimmune diseases inflammatory diseases, cardiovascular disease and cancer. Also disclosed are pharmaceutical compositions comprising these compounds and processes for preparing these compounds.
