A mobile communication terminal having a multilateral video communication function and a mode conversion method of the multilateral video communication are provided to perform the process changed into the multilateral video communication based on the multitasking, thereby offering the user interface for enabling a user to select a call mode and the other party. When a video call is connected to a terminal of the other party, a mobile communication terminal performs the video communication through a high-speed packet data service(S310). A controlling unit within the terminal of a user processes a received voice and outputs an image received from the terminal of the other party. While the terminal of the other party is communicating with the user terminal, if a video call request is received from the other terminal(S330), the controlling unit displays a screen for enabling the user to select a call mode(S340) and then performs the multilateral video communication after executing the conversion into the selected call mode(S350).
