A PPDS gene which is related to the biosynthesis of protopanaxadiol and derived from ginseng is provided to massively synthesize protopanaxadiol and increase the biosynthesis of protopanaxadiol based ginseng saponin. A ginseng derived PPDS(Protopanaxadiol synthase) which is related to the biosynthesis of protopanaxadiol comprises amino acid of the sequence number 2. A gene coding the PPDS comprises a sequence of the sequence number 1. A recombinant vector, pYeDP60_PPDS comprises PPDS gene and is recombinant yeast vector. A transformed yeast is produced by transforming with the recombinant vector, pYeDP60_PPDS.
