A system and a method for providing electronic wallet service using general purpose user identity module card are provided to conveniently use financial service of the different financial institutions through computer devices by safely carrying personal authentication and financial information. An electronic wallet device(100) comprises a flash memory unit within USIM(Universal Subscriber Identity Module) card, a user authentication unit, and a USB(Universal Serial Bus) terminal. By operating the installed e-wallet program, the various financial information of the user is managed by the electronic wallet device. One or more financial institution servers(230) perform the issuance of the electronic wallet device, the registration and authentication. In case the electronic wallet device is connected through wired and wireless network, one or more financial institution servers provide the financial services after the authentication of the electronic wallet device.
