A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating dementia, which contains a ginsenoside-F2(F2) and ginsenoside-CK as a main ingredient is provided to treat mild congnitive impairment and prevent degenerative brain diseases (Alzheimer disease, parkinson's disease, etc.). A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating dementia comprises a ginsenoside-F2 of the chemical formula 1 and ginsenoside-CK of the chemical formula 2 as main ingredient. In the chemical formulas 1 and 2, Glc indicates glucose. The content ratio of ginsenoside-F1 and ginsenoside-CK is 1:0.01~2. The content of the ginsenoside F2 and CK is 0.1~50 weight% based on the total weight. The amount of the composition in a health functional food is 0.01-15 weight% based on the total food weight.
