PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for transmitting/receiving a control channel in a broadband wireless communication system and a method for setting up a control channel candidate are provided to prevent the occurrence of a signaling overhead without an additional signaling for the definition of PDCCH candidates for each user. CONSTITUTION: A method for transmitting/receiving a control channel in a broadband wireless communication system comprises the steps of: determining an input value of a hash function by performing the calculation depending on the sub-frame number of terminal identifiers; determining the candidates for a control channel in each level by applying the determined input value to the hash value(710); and transmitting the selected a modulated symbol string through the control channel candidate in the control channel candidate group(716).
