FIELD: treatment of radioactive waste.;SUBSTANCE: invention refers to treatment of solid radioactive waste, and can be used when erecting protective envelopes of half-buried disposal sites of solid radioactive waste in cryolite zone. For reliable insulation of available half-buried disposal sites of solid radioactive waste in cryolite zone there proposed is erection of hill-type protective ice envelopes as per the developed technology including pre-soaking and exposure to freeze during winter period of laid solid radioactive waste with the following layer-after-layer laying of gravel and earth with watering and freezing by natural cold. For speeding-up freezing of single watered layers the thickness thereof (t_layer) shall be determined by means of calculation from the formula: t_layer.=1.5|t_amb.air|-15, cm, where: 1.5 and 15 - coefficients; |t_amb.air.| - absolute monthly mean ambient air temperature value. For the purpose of improving degree of protection of disposal site against external negative actions there provided in construction of protective envelope is device of two protective barriers made from ice structured with saw dust and hydraulic insulation screen made of polyethylene film.;EFFECT: improving degree of protection of disposal site against external negative actions.;1 cl, 1 dwg
