The belt loops round pairs of cone pulleys (2,3;4,5) which are arranged coaxial with each other on the drive shaft (7,8) or on the output shaft (58). The inner pair of cone pulleys has radially outwardly opening conical faces (9,10) whilst the outer pair have radially inwardly opening cone faces (11,12). One of the cone pulleys of the outer pair is rotatable and axially immovable on the shaft (7) whilst the other pulley is rotatable and axially displaceable in the area of a reduced diameter section (8) of the shaft. The cone pulley can be rotatably mounted on an axial projection (22) of an inner cone pulley seated axially displaceable on the shaft section (8).
