The method involves transmitting an infra-red light on an optical path (6) from a wavelength modulatable infra-red laser (8) to a reflection system and from the reflection system to a charge coupled device (CCD) (12). An independent claim is also included for a device for absorption-spectroscopic verification of combustible gas in an open volume.
