The method involves measuring an emerging position (AP1) of an underwater vessel by a satellite supported position determining systems during emerging of underwater vessel. The underwater vessel submerges in a predetermined submerging depth and lays back a route having constant course in the submerging depth. An end position (EP) of the underwater vessel at the end of the route is determined by coupled navigation during the diving trip.
