Rotational machining method for workpiece with non-circular and rotation-symmetrical inner and outer contours, involves carrying out feed motion of flat cutting edge required for compensating contour variations, continuously in direction
The method involves engaging a tool (11) having a flat cutting edge (15) with a workpiece (7). The edge is tilted by an angle in relation to a workpiece rotational axis (16). The cutting edge is displaced about a swiveling axis (13) for performing a circular advance movement. Non-circular inner and outer contours of the workpiece are produced during feed motion between the workpiece and the tool. Contour variations of the workpiece, caused by the shape of the cutting edge, are compensated, and the feed motion required for compensating the variations is carried out continuously in a direction. An independent claim is also included for a machine tool for rotational machining of a workpiece with non-circular and rotation-symmetrical inner and outer contours.
