The method involves detecting distance of an object provided before a motor vehicle, and determining a reinforcing factor of braking factor reinforcement as a function of the distance and speed of the motor vehicle. A traffic-lane hose (6) is predicted from driving dynamic data of the motor vehicle, and data of a forward camera system and/or a digital map of a navigation system are used for adjusting the predicted traffic-lane hose. The predicted traffic-lane hose is introduced in the determination of the reinforcing factor.
