The diagnostic procedure for determining the degradation of a membrane, an electro-chemical cell, an electrical-catalytic arrangement, an arrangement with redox-active layers or gas cells with cells and membrane-electrode-units, comprises strongly influencing predamaged cells through a predefined temporal profile of a delta pressure change of the cell voltage. The voltage and pressures of cells are measured and/or noted on the basis of temporal pressure change between anode and cathode in order to detect on the basis the profile whether the membrane has predamaged degradation. The diagnostic procedure for determining the degradation of a membrane, an electro-chemical cell, an electrical-catalytic arrangement, an arrangement with redox-active layers or gas cells with cells and membrane-electrode-units, comprises strongly influencing predamaged cells through a predefined temporal profile of a delta pressure change of the cell voltage. The voltage and pressures of cells are measured and/or noted on the basis of temporal pressure change between anode and cathode in order to detect on the basis the profile whether the membrane has predamaged degradation. The complete systems are tested on functionality with the described components. The determination of the degradation profile takes place from the early stage to the point of failure in temperature and moisture-dependent manner.
