The pump (1) has a working space (6) in which fuel is loaded with high pressure. The pump is drivingly coupled with a linear motor (8). The linear motor is drivingly coupled with a pump piston (5), which limits the working space in a cylinder (4). The working space is in connection with a fuel tank (11) and a high pressure fuel reservoir (15) by a suction valve (10) and by a pressure control valve (14). The linear motor is attached to a cooling circuit and to a fuel circuit of an internal-combustion engine for cooling.
