The pump (1) has a pump housing (2) and a pump element (4) that comprises a back and forth movable piston (9). The piston is driven by a cam shaft (20). A step-up gear unit (34) is integrated into the pump. The cam shaft is rotatably and fixedly connected with a gear wheel (31). The gear wheel engages another gear wheel (32) that is rotatably and fixedly connected with a drive shaft (35). The drive shaft is mounted on the pump using two drive shaft bearings (41, 42), where one of the drive shafts bearings (41) is arranged in a pump housing body (24).
