The method involves supplying electrical energy from a network connection to a lamp (1) e.g. sodium vapor high pressure lamp, over an electrical line. An inverter module (12) is integrated in a photovoltaic generator. Electrical energy is generated by a solar cell (11) from solar energy. The generated electrical energy is provided as a direct current voltage to the inverter module by the solar cell. The generated electrical energy is provided as alternating voltage by the inverter module for supplying into a mains supply of the electrical line from the generator to the network connection. An independent claim is also included for a street lighting including a lamp.
