The method involves feeding input materials into an upper area of a reaction chamber (2). A liquid cinder is condensed at side walls of the chamber. An opening with a cinder draining edge (7) is arranged at a lower side of the chamber. A synthesis gas produced is extracted downwardly via the opening. The synthesis gas is dried and cooled in a chamber (8) that is limited by a water film. A chamber (10) is arranged below the chamber (8). A water bath is arranged below the chamber (10). The produced and cooled gas is extracted from a pressure container (4) below or lateral to the chamber (10).
