The method involves partly attaching a strip shaped sideband on folded profiles (12) of a folded pack (2). A zigzag edge of the sideband is formed in a form of the folded profile. The zigzag edge is formed by zigzag punching or cutting of the sideband. The sideband is glued on the folded profile. The sideband is cut or punched before and after gluing on the folded profile. Tooth shaped sections of the sideband in the form of the folded profile are removed, where the folded pack and the sideband include a non-woven material i.e. polyethylene terephthalate. An independent claim is also included for a filter element for a motor vehicle.
