The device has a hollow body (10) coupled with a gas-guiding part (14) i.e. hose of intake system, of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle over a sound inlet (12) for transmission of sound. The hollow body is acoustically coupled with an interior of the motor vehicle and/or a space surrounding the motor vehicle over a sound outlet (16). A volume varying device (20) adjusts volume of the hollow body, has a body (22) filled with a gaseous and/or fluid medium (24). A limiting element (30) is arranged within the hollow body to limit volume of the body.
