The circuit (1) has a main contact comprising two separately adjustable poles (4.1, 4.2) for connecting an intermediate circuit capacitor (2) as two-pole with a voltage source (5). A series connection of a switch (6) with a pre-charging circuit is provided parallel to one of the poles. The pre-charging circuit is formed as a current source (3) and/or as a semiconductor operated in a linear range. The switch is formed as a relay or semiconductor. Semiconductor components are provided in the current source. An independent claim is also included for a method for charging an intermediate circuit capacitor.
