The method involves utilizing radiation of radioactive substance for release of ignition, where the radiation consists of emitted helium cores e.g. alpha-particle, or emitted electrons e.g. beta-particle. A part of the radioactive radiation is induced by acting on evenly distributed material in direct proximity for emission of secondary electrons, where the secondary emission consists of ionized particle radiation and/or ionized electromagnetic radiation. Electrodes are formed in the proximity of the ignition region. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlled and reliable ignition of a plasma accelerator.
