The method involves interconnecting a supply device (3), a heat exchanger (4), an expansion device (5) and a condensation device (7) to a flow circuit (CR). A working medium is circulated in the flow circuit, and a heat transition from a warm medium to the working medium is realized by the heat exchanger. The working medium is circulated in the flow circuit under constant pressure by using the supply unit and the expansion unit, during cold start of the internal combustion engine. An independent claim is also included for an internal combustion engine.
