The method involves dividing exhaust gas stream (E) into two exhaust gas-partial streams (TS1, TS2) using a flow divider (ST1), where the exhaust gas stream is discharged from an internal-combustion engine. The exhaust gas-partial stream (TS1) is guided by three catalyzers (K11-K13), where the catalyzers are separated from each other. The exhaust gas-partial stream (TS2) is past guided at the catalyzers. The exhaust gas-partial streams are again combined at a flow divider (ST2) and the combined exhaust gas stream is guided through an additional catalyzer (KS). An independent claim is also included for an internal-combustion engine emission characteristics influencing device comprising catalyzers.
