The method involves detecting a front area or a rear area of a vehicle (3) by a camera (5) of a vehicle assistance system. Shunting-auxiliary lines are superimposed for assistance of a coupling process after marking a coupling device (1) of a charging station (2) represented by a display device i.e. monitor, and detected by the camera. Arrow representations indicating a steering direction and magnitude of a steering angle are superimposed on the display device. Distance information of the vehicle to the charging station are superimposed on the display device.
