The device (1) has a screen (24) for displaying a camera image in an interior of a motor vehicle (17), where the device is formed as an assistance system for monitoring traffic from a front seat passenger side. A camera is arranged as a front view camera oriented in a driving direction with field of vision (23). The screen is in transfer-connection with the camera and provided in a vision region of a front seat passenger (19). The camera is arranged in an outer mirror housing (8) of an outer mirror on a driver's side. The camera and the screen are detachably fastened in and/or at the vehicle.
