For detecting the direction of a shaft connected with a movable body relative to a spatial reference coordinate system the system comprises a laser source (1), which via a directional coupler (2) to an assembly having three coils (bx, by, bz) via circuits (4, 5) is connected, cyclically and in succession, each coil in the course of a period to food. The axes of the three coils respectively correspond to one of the three directions of a rectangular plane spatial coordinate system (xyz), which is connected with the moving body. The laser radiation is in equal proportions of the ends of the coil which is fed, and the energy is discharged by the coupler to a detector (3) is passed.
