For detecting the direction of a shaft connected with a movable body relative to a spatial reference coordinate system the system comprises a laser source (1), which via a directional coupler (2) to an assembly having three coils (bx, by, bz) via circuits (4, 5) is connected, cyclically and in succession, each coil in the course of a period to food. The axes of the three coils respectively correspond to one of the three directions of a rectangular plane spatial coordinate system (xyz), which is connected with the moving body.
