The seat has a retractable backrest (11) including a removable integration units integrated with a fixed element e.g. cable, of a motor vehicle. The backrest has a locking unit i.e. upper lock, for preventing ill-timed disintegration of the backrest. The locking unit is controlled by a controlling structure to exert the control of a head-rest. The integration units are controlled by a disintegration structure (12) that is formed in the form of cavity. The structures are controlled mechanically or electrically by being implanted on the seat. An independent claim is also included for a method for retracting a backrest of a seat of a motor vehicle.
