The brake has a segment comprising a core integrated to a longitudinal plate. A lower portion of the plate is integrated to a lower part of the core. The plate has a free portion forming a free arm (321) opposite to an upper part (301) of the core. A force application unit is formed by a wheel cylinder. The unit applies force on the upper part, and an end of a self-adjusting mechanism (8) is cooperated against the free portion, such that the mechanism is activated by a clearance due to wear of a friction lining of the segment and not by deformation of the core under the action of force.
