PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorine-containing liquid crystal compound having low rotational viscosity (γ1) and a high liquid crystal clear point, its production method, and a liquid crystal electro-optic element.;SOLUTION: The fluorine-containing liquid crystal compound is represented by formula (1): R1-CH=CH-(CH2)2-(A1)m-Cy-CF2CF2-Cy-(A2)n-R (wherein R1 is H or a methyl group; A1 and A2 are each a 1,4-phenylene group which may be substituted with F or the like; Cy is a 1,4-cyclohexylene group or the like; m, n, and m+n are each 0 or 1; and R is a halogen, a cyano group or a 1-10C monovalent aliphatic hydrocarbon group). The method for producing the fluorine-containing liquid crystal compound comprises reacting a fluorine-containing compound represented by formula (2): OHC-(CH2)2-(A1)m-Cy-CF2CF2-Cy-(A2)n-R (wherein R, A1, A2, Cy, m, and n are the same as defined above) with a methyltriphenylphosphonium halide or an ethyltriphenylphosphonium halide in the presence of a base, and the liquid crystal electro-optic element uses the compound.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
