PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus in which visibility of a document in a document tray is improved and a document feeding path for double-side reading has simple and compact configuration. PSOLUTION: An image scanner device 20 includes a document tray 23, a scanner unit 25, an introduction path 80, a triple-roller 33, a transport roller 34, an inversion path 82, a transport roller 36, a first discharge tray 24 and a transport roller 37. Into the document tray 23, documents 99 are set which are stacked to turn the front side upward. The introduction path 80 guides the document 99 in such a way that the front side of the document 99 can be passed through a reading position 90 of the scanner unit 25. The inversion path 82 inverts the document 99 and guides it to the reading position 90 of the scanner unit 25 so as to read the rear side of the document 99 which has passed through the introduction path 80, the front side of the document having been read.
