PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extra length holding member for holding a cable, which effectively uses the extra length of a cable for the effective utilization of a resource and the reduction of network building cost by holding the extra length of the cable easily while preventing the entanglement of the cable, a storing box for the cable for storing the cable wound in an 8-shape, and a method for storing extra length. PSOLUTION: The extra length holding member 20 is used for the cable storing box 11 for storing the cable 15 wound in the shape of the number eight, and a plate-like member 21 is provided with hook-and-loop fasteners 22, 23, and 24 which can hold an extra length cable 15B excessively drawn out.
