METHOD FOR DETERMINING KIND OF BASE COURSE MATERIAL, AND METHOD FOR ESTIMATING UPHEAVAL OF PAVEMENT SURFACE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To nondestructively, simply and rapidly determine whether or not steel slag is used for a base course for an asphalt concrete pavement, and to estimate an upheaval of a pavement surface by utilizing this determination method.;SOLUTION: In a method for determining the kind of a base course material, the alkali level of the base course is measured from on the top of the pavement surface by a soil detector, so as to determine whether or not the steel slag base course material is used for the base course. In a method for estimating the upheaval of the pavement surface, an elastic modulus of the base course is measured by a weight-dropping type deflection measuring device, so as to determine whether or not the base course material is consolidated. The upheaval of the pavement surface is estimated on the basis of the result of this determination and that of the determination of the kind of the base course material.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
