PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic storage device, which is reduced in command delay or device deterioration by efficiently performing off-line medium verification (BMS) processing executed in an idling state. PSOLUTION: The magnetic storage device 1 configured to execute patrol processing for performing verification of data stored in an HDD 20 by a host device includes: a verification processing determination unit (setting section, extraction section, determination section, and additive processing section) for determining whether a plurality of commands corresponding to patrol processing is present based on a plurality of pieces of individual information stored in the HDD 20 as history information, the individual information having an execution time or accessed address information for a command from the host device to the storage device 1; and a condition setting unit for setting, when existence of the plurality of commands corresponding to patrol processing is determined by the verification processing determination unit, a processing condition of the BMS processing for performing verification of data based on the individual information in the plurality of commands corresponding to patrol processing.
