PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image capturing system for medical use, image processing apparatus, image processing method, and program capable of objectively discriminating the constituent of a subject also in an image in which density difference is not easily discriminated on a gray image obtained by image capturing for medical use using X-rays.;SOLUTION: In the image capturing system, an obtaining unit obtains image information of the subject from the absorbed X-ray dose information output from a detecting unit, an image processing unit calculates average detection energy in each predetermined region of captured images by estimating the number of photons of X-rays absorbed by the detecting unit from the image information, and an output unit outputs the average detection energy.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
