PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of removing heavy metal ions using easily available paper which is discarded in a large quantity from offices, and the like, as combustible waste, which is a simple and efficient means of removing heavy metal ion achieving remarkably reduced equipment cost and running cost by focusing on a trace amount of residual lignin, contained in the waste paper disposed as a waste material, as the adsorbent of the heavy metal ions, and also to provide an apparatus for the same.;SOLUTION: The removing apparatus comprises: a flow path 18 in a waste water tank for making the waste water containing the heavy metal ions (for example, zinc ion) flow; settling tanks 4, 5 housing paper chip members 20; a bubbling tank 6 to which the waste water is supplied from the settling tanks 4, 5 and in which the paper chip member 20 is housed; and a retention tank to which the waste water is supplied from the bubbling tank 6 and in which bubbling 20 is housed.
