PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently reflect excellent performance, particularly, maneuvering stability possessed by a tire reference model on a developing tire. SOLUTION: This tire tread profile developing method includes (1) a step of displaying a reference tread profile Fa by a function F (x, y)=0, (2) a grounding width setting step of determining a target grounding width Kb, (3) a step of determining the target grounding area Sb of the developing tire B, (4) a step of determining a temporary developing tread profile Fb', (5) a step of obtaining a temporary developing three-dimensional tread profile Vb', (6) a step of comparing the target grounding width Kb with the width directional length Kxy of a cut cross section 3 when the cut cross-sectional area Sxy of the temporary developing three-dimensional tread profile Vb' coincides with the target grounding area Sb, and (7) a calculating step of obtaining a developing tread profile Fb by changing the temporary tread profile Fb' up to coinciding when the width directional length Kxy does not coincide with the target grounding width Kb.
