PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface coated cemented carbide cutting tool with a hard coating layer exhibiting excellent chipping resistance in high-speed heavy cutting.;SOLUTION: The hard coating layer formed by vapor deposition on the surface of a tool base consists of three layers each formed by chemical vapor deposition: (a) a first layer which is a close contact joint layer formed of either one of a TiN layer and a TiCN layer with granular crystal texture, or lamination of both layers, and having an average layer thickness of 0.1-1 μm, (b) a second layer which is a tough layer formed of a 1-TiCN layer with longitudinal growth crystal texture and having an average layer thickness of 3-15 μm, and (c) a third layer which is a reinforcing hard layer having α-type crystal structure and granular crystal texture, wherein an inclination angle frequency distribution graph of a certain measured inclination angle shows specific distribution when measuring inclination angles formed by normal lines of (0001) surfaces which are crystal surfaces of crystal grains, with respect to the normal line of a surface polished surface by irradiating electron beams, using a field emission type scanning electron microscope, and having an average layer thickness of 3-15 μm.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
