PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the tachyarrhythmia discrimination by an active implantable medical device of defibrillator/cardioverter type with an advanced tachycardia discrimination.;SOLUTION: An active implantable medical device of defibrillator/cardioverter type with the advanced tachycardia discrimination, monitors the atrial and ventricular activity, checks for the presence of tachycardia episodes in the monitored activity, and operates a classification algorithm to discriminate the tachyarrhythmia between ventricular tachycardias and supra-ventricular tachycardias according to predetermined criteria, permits the release of a shock therapy defibrillation, cardioversion and/or anti-tachycardia ventricular stimulation in the presence ventricular tachycardias, and inhibits the delivery of a shock therapy in the presence of a supra-ventricular tachycardias, or instead starts an atrial therapy.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
