PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To convey a necessary amount of a developer to a development area without causing any stagnation of the developer by improving developer conveyance capacity nearby the entrance to the development area.;SOLUTION: The developing unit has a developing device equipped with a restriction member 45 which includes a magnet roller 44 having developing main magnetic pole P₁ forming a magnetic brush on the surface of a developer carrier in a development area facing a latent image carrier 1 and a conveying magnetic pole P₆ positioned on the upstream side of the developing main magnetic electrode in a developer conveying direction; and the conveying magnetic pole is arranged between the developer layer thickness restriction member and developing main magnetic pole and the peak half-value center angle of the normal-directional magnetic flux density of the conveying magnetic pole is slanted to the development area more than the peak angle of the normal- directional magnetic flux density of the magnetic pole.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
