The present invention relates to a process of chemical recycling waste polyethyleneterephthalate, wherein the invented recycling process is characterized in that waste polyethyleneterephthalate is subjected to alkali hydroglycolysis using a solution of caustic soda or caustic potash and glycol at simultaneous distilling off water from the reactor. Subsequently, suspension of terphtalic acid sodium salt and glycol crystals is separated and diluted with water. Then, after removal of pollutants from the diluted suspension using sorbent, the suspension is subjected to electrolysis during which the occurred crystal of terephthalic acid are separated from the aqueous solution of alkali metal hydroxide and glycol.
